The Marantec Company was founded in 1957 and launched its first range of controls for domestic ad commercial garage doors in 1990 under the brand name Comfort. Marantec also patented its Rotaline system which formed the technical basis for its superior range of garage door operators.
In 2005 Marantec entered the Australian market setting up a subsidiary company in Sydney. In 2006 Marantec launched its EOS (Easy Operating System) a uniform programming structure for all Marantec operator systems and the first available world-wide.
In 2012 Marantec decided to close its Australian operations and transfer the representation of its product range in Australia to Steel-Line Garage Doors and its garage door operator subsidiary Steel-Line Automation.
